Can YOU Keep It?

Our Independence wasn’t guaranteed in 1776 it was only DECLARED.
Our Liberties as a nation were not secured forever in 1787 they were only DEFINED.
The future of our Democratic Republic wasn’t known nor, our Freedoms assured beyond that founding generation.
The Independence, Liberty, Freedom and security of a strong Union is the sole duty of the individuals charged to maintain it.

In Walter Isaacson’s book, Benjamin Franklin, An American Life; Isaacson writes about a tale recorded by James McHenry of Maryland where he accounts of an exchange between Franklin and a woman waiting for news outside of Convention Hall in 1787, just after the ratification of our U.S. Constitution by the state delegates; …an anxious lady named Mrs. Powel, who accosted him outside the hall. What type of government, she asked, have you delegates given us? To which he replied, “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”

We must understand with all soberness, knowledge and wisdom just who is responsible for our Independence, Liberties and Freedom. Just as it was on September 17, 1787; it isn’t up to just the wealthy or the powerful or the elected to “keep it”; It is We The People.
